A518_46RH_transmission.jpg So last night my Dad and I finally started the task of replacing my transmission in my 94 Dodge Dakota.  Its been something thats been needing to get done for some time now, but we’ve been putting it off and other things just got in the way. But the point is, we started.

Last night we:
- removed the drive shaft
- Pulled the transmission pan (to drain all the fluid out)
- removed the starter
- removed the dust cover or whatever it is on the lower front of the transmission

So now we have to:
- unbolt torque converter from flywheel
- unplug/disconnect any thing attached to the trans
- unbolt trans from cross-member
- unbolt bell housing of trans from engine (while the engine is being supported by a jack with  a piece of wood)
- remove cross-member
- might have to remove exhaust somewhere in there…
- pull trans out

Then comes the chore of trying to figure out how to get the new one in there and then theres to hoping that it will actually work.

The important thing is that we actually started. And thats key.

Good times ahead.
