How to switch from Portrait to Landscape as default photo orientation on your HTC Titan (PPC-6800, XV6800)

This was done on the HTC Titan (Verizon xv6800). It may work for others as well, but I’m not sure.

The problem was this: I take mostly landscape photos with my phone, but the phone would always save the image as a portrait. I hate having to go in and rotate each image, so I wanted to change the default to landscape.

This is how to do it.

  1. Download and copy FdcSoft’s Task Manager to your device.
  2. open TaskMgr

Photos from Pala Raceway

Spent half a day at Pala Raceway the other week riding my 2006 Honda TRX450er on the quad track. Met up with a buddy of mine from trx450r.org and the crew from ThrottleJunkie.com. Here are a couple pics of what went down:

Instructions on How To Replace a Hard Drive in a Macbook A1181

macbook_13_whiteSo a client of mine called me up asking me if I know how to replace a hard drive in a laptop.  Sure I do, so she brought me the laptop, and handed me a Apple Macbook A1181. Now I’m no mac tech, so I was kinda lost at first when it came to replacing the hard drive. But lucky for me, I found a PDF that outlines exactly how to do it, and holly sweetness its easy.

So i have attached the PDF for you to download so you too can replace your harddrive if you ever need to.

A couple of quick tips to add:

If you are installing a new harddrive, you might need to go into the Disk Utilities and “Erase” the hard drive. Erase it to MacOS Extended Journaled (unless you want to use one of the other options) and name the hard drive “Macintosh HDD.” You probably dont have to name it that, but thats what Apple does, so for consistancy I did the same thing.

disk-utility-02So to get to the Disk Utility, Boot off the OS disk by holding your C key as you power on the unit. Let it get to the welcome screen, and then go to menu on top, where the apple is, file, and so on. Under utilities, you will find the disk utility.

I had to do this to the hard drive before the OS would recognize it as a Destination to install the OS too. Before it wouldn’t detect the hard drive in there, so hopefully if you experience this too, now you know what to do.

Palomar Divide Road, the run I did January 3rd, 2009

More Photos

Had some spare time and was sitting around so I decided to take my truck out and see what the Palomar Divide was all about, got about 5 miles up and had to turn around. There was too much snow, and I started loosing traction, no good. But all in all it was a great time.

Heres my run:

Then on the way back into town, i recorded a time laps of the drive…

Glamis Sand Dune Point of Interest (POI) with GPS

So I was looking for a good place to gather all the GPS Coordinates for Glamis, the Imperial Sand Dune Recreation area. I found quite a bit of information about it, but no links to Google Earth KML files, so I created this resource area for it.  Click here to download ALL the POI’s I have for Glamis is one Google Earth Pack. (I will keep adding more from time to time, so check back.)

Apparently their monitoring isn’t that effective!

That’s weird!

My WalkScore – the Walkability of where I live: 48

My WalkScore: 48 out of 100. I’m Car-Dependent.

I was browsing through some of my RSS feeds and stumbled on a post about WalkScore.com. I remember hearing about this a year ago up in San Francisco while I was up there for a convention.  So with this random place posting about WalkScore.com, I figured I’d check it out. Well, it seems that where I live isn’t so walkable after all. Only a 48 out of 100. My old house, however, is a 65 out of 100 and so is the place where I work. But I find that a little hard to believe. WalkScore.com, do you really expect me to walk 4.65 miles to a starbucks for a out priced cup of joe!?  Naw, didn’t think so. Regardless, it was still a fun little experiment.

So, whats your walkscore???

I can totally see it some day..

Them: Hey, ASL?  WS?
Me:
Hi, 26, M, Southern CA… WS: 48… U?
Them: ugg, only a 48.. Lates….
Okay, maybe thats pushing it a little.  :)
