Palomar Divide Road, the run I did January 3rd, 2009

Had some spare time and was sitting around so I decided to take my truck out and see what the Palomar Divide was all about, got about 5 miles up and had to turn around. There was too much snow, and I started loosing traction, no good. But all in all it was a great time.

Transmission Troubles Continue…

So the transmission that I bought from a company in Gardena is toast. I pulled the pan this weekend and its smelled horrible. So I called the company up and they are going to refund me 75% of the cost. Damnit. Oh well, I guess thats the risk I took buying this transmission used from some place. Lesson learned. So now I have to drive 85 miles out there to get my money back (at least part of it). Sucks. Hopefully my truck will be fixed soon. Heres to hoping.

Dodge Dakota Transmission

So I just got off the phone with a tranny guy, and he said that he would rebuild my transmission, which is a 46RH (A518), for $900 plus $300 for R&R. I had to think about what R&R was, but I got it after a couple of seconds. Removal and Reinstall. This guy is a Certified Dodge Transmission Tech, so I assume he knows what hes doing. It comes with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. I’m feeling really comfortable with this so far.

But here’s the thing. I have a Transmission sitting at my parents house that I can throw in the truck. I have no idea if its any good, but It has warranty. So what I’m thinking about doing, is having this guy swap transmissions in the truck. So that would only be $300. We’ll see.

Just a thought.
